Common questions
For one or two feeding visits, a couple of days is usually plenty. The site shows real availability — if a day says available, it is.
For house sitting, or for school holidays and Christmas, book as far ahead as you can. Those fill up first.
No, but we would rather you did, and it is free inside our standard service area.
It is about twenty minutes. We meet your animals, you walk us through the routine, and we work out keys and how to get in — in person, which is the only sensible way to do that part.
Yes. Cancel more than 48 hours before the first visit and you get a full refund, automatically.
Between 48 and 24 hours, it is a 50% refund. Inside 24 hours there is no refund, because the day has usually been turned down for someone else by then.
To change dates rather than cancel, message us — if we can move it, we will, and there is no charge for that.
Twenty to thirty minutes, depending on how many animals there are and how much they want from you.
The feeding part takes five. The rest is company, which is the part that actually matters to a cat that has been alone since Tuesday.
We call you first. If we cannot reach you, we call your emergency contact.
If it is urgent and nobody answers, we take them to the vet you nominated and authorise treatment up to the limit you set when booking. That limit is yours to choose — you set it on the booking form, and we do not exceed it.
You will hear from us either way, that day.
Usually, yes. The owner does most visits.
There are two trained backup sitters — Natacha, who is Chey's mum, and Quin, a friend based in Eastbourne. That is how a visit never gets cancelled because someone got sick.
You can see who they are on the About page. If a backup is covering your booking, you will know before they arrive, not after.
Every visit gets a note in your visit log — what was done, and how they were. You can read it in your account, whenever.
If you want a photo, ask and we will send one.
Because the honest number depends on how far away you are, how long the stay is, and how many animals there are. Anywhere from $65 to $90 a night.
So we do not guess and charge you. You send the request, we tell you the exact price, and only then is there anything to pay. Nothing gets charged to your card before you have seen the number and agreed to it.
For feeding visits, at the time you book. The price is fixed and there is nothing to work out.
For house sitting, after we send you a price and you accept it.
No. The price on the site is the price, including Christmas Day.
In person, at the meet & greet. Never through this website, never by email, and never by text.
There is deliberately no field on the booking form for an alarm code. Anything a website asks you to type is something a website is storing, and a list of Wellington alarm codes is not a thing that should exist.
Not yet, and we would rather say so than let you assume otherwise.
Public liability cover is being arranged. Until this answer changes, it has not been.
They are people Chey knows personally — her mum and a long-standing friend — and they are named on the About page rather than hidden.
Formal reference checks are being documented for each of them. Where that has been completed, it is shown on their profile. Where it has not, nothing is claimed.
We keep the minimum needed to do the job: your contact details, your address, your animals' routines, and your vet.
Access notes, if there are any, are encrypted and destroyed automatically seven days after your booking ends.
The full detail is in the privacy policy, including how to ask for a copy of what we hold, or ask us to delete it.
Something not covered? Send us a message — we answer within a day.
